Dr. D. Uma is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of PES University (Formerly known as P. E. S. Institute of Technology), Bangalore, Karnataka, India. She has over 20 years of association with P. E. S. Institutions and an overall experience of twenty-two years in the teaching profession. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in 1993 and Master’s degree in Mathematics from Bharathiar University in 1995. Then she received Master of Philosophy Degree in Mathematics from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tamil Nadu in 2004 and her doctoral degree from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka during 2011. She also obtained M. Tech. in Information Technology from Karnataka State Open University, Mysore, Karnataka during 2015. Her current research interest includes Data Science, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning techniques.

Carrying out research activities to address issues of the country and region. Currently, carrying out research in the domains of both Agriculture and Education using Data Mining and Machine Learning Techniques. The research activities are aimed at finding hidden patterns and retrieving some useful information from Big Data, presentation of findings of research and providing recommendations emerging out of the research.
Research activities includes planning, data collection, compilation, interpretation, presentation and article publications pertaining to Data Science.
Guiding research at graduate and postgraduate levels, guiding students of Ph.D., M.C.A. (Master of Computer Applications) for their dissertations and theses.
