PESU Academy manages the learning, evaluation and achievement of students. We goes beyond assessing academic content knowledge, to improve outcomes related to thinking, creativity, problem solving, and the interpretation of information. This has helped us develop a reliable and confidential process of documenting, in measurable terms, knowledge and skill, of the individual learner, class, and institution as a whole. The exercise enables the University to constantly improve upon assessment processes, teaching methods and learning outcomes.

Evaluate

The methods we rely on include a mix of traditionally proven practices and modern techniques developed by experts. These methods enable us align our teaching curriculum and exercises with the demands, expectations, and requirements that students tend to encounter in their professional careers.

  • Periodic Tests use selected response items to determine student proficiency in complex areas such as analysis and problem solving, scientific and quantitative reasoning
  • Performance Tasks are complex curriculum embedded assignment involving multiple steps that require students to use meta-cognitive learning skills. As a result, assessment reflects the depth of what they have learned and their ability to apply that learning as well.
  • Project Assessment approach measures learning skills including analyzing and representing a problem; formulating, planning, and executing a solution; and monitoring and reflecting on progress.

Achieve

To project the achievements of the students we are replacing traditional transcript by an online personal profile, including not just familiar data such as courses, but also providing links to one’s research papers and projects undertaken, self-assessments, teachers’ reports, examinations passed, and other evidence of one’s knowledge, skill, and growth in key areas.

Our students are equipped with conceptual understanding of how any particular piece of information relates to the larger whole. They are able to relate smaller ideas to bigger ones, and able to demonstrate the overall significance of what they have learned. What makes our graduates career ready is that they can apply knowledge in novel ways, across different subject areas and in real-world situations.
