About PES University Internal Quality Assurance Cell

The PES University has established an Internal Quality Assurance Cell hereinafter called PESU_IQAC to monitor, supervise and review the quality of the development of curricula during 2019-20. PESU_IQAC is an integral part of the system of PES University and works towards realization of the goals of quality enhancement and sustenance. The prime task of PESU_IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement of overall performance of all the associated programs at PES University. The Vision, Mission, of PESU_IQAC is in alignment with Vision, Mission, Quality Policy and Core Values of PES University

Quality Enhancement through Quality Assurance is a Continuous Process. PESU_IQAC becomes part of the PES University system and works towards realization of the goals of Quality Enhancement and Sustenance.

Goals of PESU IQAC

  • To develop a quality system for conscious, consistent, and catalytic programmed action to improve the academic and administrative performance of PES University
  • To promote measures for programs functioning towards quality enhancement through internationalization of quality culture and institutionalization of best practices across programs

Roles of PESU IQAC

  • It shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for ensuring timely and efficient monitoring of Quality Enhancement (QE) activities in various programs at PES University in association with respective Deans and Chairpersons.
  • Channelizing and integration of modern methods of Teaching and Learning activities in various programs at PES University in association with respective Deans and Chairpersons.
  • Ensure Credibility of Assessment and Evaluation process in association with Controller of Examinations, PES University.
  • Sharing of Research Findings and Networking with other institutions in India and abroad in association with office of the Dean, Research, PES University.

Functions of PESU IQAC

  • Development and Application of Quality Benchmarks Parameters for Various Academic and Administrative Activities of PES University.
  • Dissemination of Information on Various Quality Parameters to all Stakeholders of PES University.
  • Integration of ICT enabled pedagogy in the Teaching Learning and Evaluation Processes at PES University.
  • Facilitating the Creation of a Learner-Centric Environment Conducive to Quality Education and Faculty Maturation to Adopt the Required Knowledge and Technology for Participatory Teaching and Learning Process at PES University.
  • Collection and Analysis of Feedback from all Stakeholders on Quality-Related Institutional Processes at PES University.
  • Organization of Inter and Intra Institutional Workshops, Seminars on Quality Related Themes and Promotion of Quality Circles at PES University.
  • Evaluation and analysis of attainment of Learning Outcomes of all the programs at PES University.

Minutes of Internal Quality Assurance Cell(IQAC) Meeting

Meeting Code: PESU/IQAC/2019-20 -#1:

The IQAC meeting #1 was convened on 15-02-2020 at the Boardroom from 10.30 am to 11.30 am to discuss the following agenda points:

  • PESU Academy Content Development status.
  • Review of class conduction statistics and tagging of Impartus videos
  • Program Audit
  • Digital Coordinators meeting and status of Digital Deliverables
  • Analysis of stakeholder’s feedback and action taken report
  • Review of attainment of Learning outcomes

The meeting started with the Dean, IQAC making a presentation on the understanding of the roles and responsibilities of PESU IQAC and the departmental IQAC coordinators.

Subsequent to the presentation the following agenda points were discussed and deliberated in this IQAC meeting.

  • The class video recording and tagging of Impartus videos of higher semesters, student attendance, uploading of course information, creation of a dashboard for PESU IQAC were discussed.
  • Verification of the faculty workload as per the dynamic Active Engagement Rule (AER) is carried out.
  • Faculty Induction program to be planned for the newly joined faculty.
  • The Program Academic Audit is to be conducted by the sub-committee, formed by Dean IQAC.
  • During the Academic audit, the importance of the documentation of the departmental information is to be highlighted
  • The concept, roles and responsibilities of anchor, co-anchor and the non-anchor, in teaching a subject is to be explained in detail.
  • The role and responsibility of anchor, co-anchor and the non-anchor in teaching/ handling and developing course content / reading materials is to be explained.
  • The coordinators of the department to submit the status of PES University Online content developed by the faculty in the prescribed format.
  • The coordinators of the department are to be informed about the Aesthetic and Content approval process of the developed content and are requested to concentrate on the deliverables.
  • The coordinators to update the status of Digital Course Deliverable.
  • The Library Audit is to be conducted by the sub-committee, formed by Dean IQAC.
  • The library facility at PES University is to be audited for the Statistics of visitors, Subscription of books and Journals.
  • Course and Program outcome attainment reports of the just concluded semester were presented by the Dean-IQAC to all the members present. It was decided to implement ICT tools in attainment calculation.

The meeting started with the Dean, IQAC discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 15-02-2020. Subsequently the Dean, IQAC opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The class video recording and tagging of Impartus videos of higher semesters, student attendance, uploading of course information, creation of a dashboard for PESU IQAC were done. The faculty workload was prepared as per the dynamic Active Engagement Rule (AER).
  • The Program Academic Audit was conducted by the sub-committee, formed by Dean IQAC. During the Academic audit, the documentation of the departmental information was verified.
  • The Coordinators of the department submitted the status of PES University Online content developed by the faculty in the prescribed format.
  • The Library Audit was conducted by the sub-committee, formed by Dean IQAC. The Statistics of visitors, Subscription of books and Journals, The Stock verification process was initiated in the library. The central library is equipped with.
  • The committee members suggested that, during the Covid 19 pandemic the guidelines released from the Government need to be followed and an awareness need to be created in students and staff of the PES University. All the staff in the university are hereby requested to check the Bulletin released from the Office of the Vice Chancellor and communicate the same to the students and follow the guidelines.
  • The meeting suggested to follow the Covid 19 protocol in the University campus and articulate the same to the student community.
  • It is suggested to conduct the classes online as per the direction from the office of Vice Chancellor and record the classes for future student references.
  • The process of curriculum design followed in the university is discussed in the meeting and suggested to have a meeting of the department curriculum committee conducted every semester.
  • The meeting asked to record the statistics of students using /viewing the PESU Academy videos and it was suggested to generate attendance and module wise feedback reports at the end of each module.
  • The suggestion is given for the PESU Academy to work on the process of generating the workload statement from the timetable.
  • The guidelines of the workload distribution for the faculty are discussed in the meeting and suggested to verify the faculty workload as per the dynamic Active Engagement Rule (AER).
  • The meeting suggested that the coordinators of the department need to collect the data for various accreditation bodies like NAAC, NIRF, NBA.
  • It is recommended to take steps to spread awareness of the library resources. In view of this, the librarian was advised to observe one day as a Library day under the aegis of IQAC every year, where faculty are made aware of the resources and the facilities available in the library. It was suggested to subscribe only unpaid and scopus indexed journals in the PES University library.
  • The committee suggested making a visit to the various research centers at PES university to become acquainted with the research activities and facilities available at each center.
  • In the meeting members decided to plan a visit to the department and interact with the students to know about the Teaching Learning process and their expectations.
  • Course and Program outcome attainment reports of the just concluded semester were presented by the Dean-IQAC to all the members present. Dean-IQAC suggested to raise the benchmark set for attainment for the next upcoming semester.

The IQAC meeting #3 was convened on 12-12-2020 at the Boardroom from 10.30 am to 11.30 am to discuss the following agenda points:

  • Action Taken Report of the suggestions made in previous meeting dated: 30-07-2020
  • Covid 19 awareness and the regulation followed in the University
  • Student mentorship program
  • Compilation of research publication data of all faculty members of the department.
  • The syllabus revision, percentage of syllabus revised, tool usage and the structure of the curriculum status.
  • The final year project and the project review
  • Teaching content development by the faculty
  • Analysis of stakeholder’s feedback and action taken report
  • Review of placement statistics and progression to higher education.
  • Review of attainment of Learning outcomes 

The meeting started with the Dean, IQAC discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 30-07-2020. Subsequently the Dean, IQAC opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The PES University followed the Covid 19 pandemic, the guidelines released from the Government and the Bulletin released from the Office of Vice Chancellor based on Government guidelines. The effective communication of Bulletin from the Vice Chancellor office was done through the PESU App notification and by e-mail communication to the students and the staff of the University.
  • The Covid 19 protocol as per the Government guidelines are followed in the University. The students and the staff members are taking all the precautionary measures to avoid the spread of infection. Dean-IQAC explained to the members regarding spread of Covid Pandemic within the campus and no cases were reported
  • The online classes are conducted as per the direction from the office of Vice Chancellor and record the classes for future student references.
  • The process of curriculum design was followed as per the university norms.
  • The PESU Academy implemented the attendance module as per the departmental timetable. The workload distribution in the department was carried out as per the dynamic Active Engagement Rule (AER).
  • Visit to the Research Centers
  • The Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE), Process Modeling Research (PMR) Lab, Centre for Information Security, Forensics and Cyber Resilience (IFSCR), Centre for Intelligent Systems, Centre for Intelligent Systems, CORI- Crucible of Research and Innovation, Centre for Data Science & Advanced Machine Learning (CDSAML) and CCBD were visited at PES University campus.
  • The activities of the research centers are documented and student involvement in the research project was encouraging. The research center also offers elective courses/ special topics in the specialization areas of their research work.
  • Interaction with Students
  • The various departments at PES University were visited by Dean IQAC along with the IQAC members and interacted with the students.
  • The student updated the status of Syllabus coverage, class conduction, quality of question papers, etc on the query asked by the visiting members
    PESU IQAC Program The PESU IQAC program audit was conducted by Dean IQAC across the Department by covering the parameters like Student input quality, Faculty and Teaching-Learning process.
  • Each component was analyzed in detail to extract more information to identify the Strength, Refinement, Opportunity and Challenges SROC
  • The coordinators submitted the soft copy of the Workload distribution in terms of Theory, Lab, Mini-project Conduction and the update regarding online deliverable status, faculty workload.
  • The IQAC Coordinators gave an update on the digital content development status and submitted the status of Digital Content Developed and Updated in the PESU Academy.
  • It was informed that the supporting document should be made physically available at the time of IQAC academic and administrative audit visit to the Department
  • The updates w.r.t the mentorship program statistics, mentor wise student list, and the Virtual meeting conducted given in the meeting.
  • The meeting commenced with stress on safety and quality parameters that needed to be followed in the university henceforth in regular activity including, importance of wearing mask, social distancing and wearing ID card in the university campus.
  • The meeting discussed the importance of student mentorship by all faculty members of the department.
  • It is highlighted that the departments needed to take initiative and conduct the program wise quality of data analysis, validation of the collected data. The validated data need to be documented in the department and the same need to be presented at the time of audit.
  • The learning outcomes and the attainment reports of all the programs are asked to be submitted in the next meeting for verification.
  • Suggested to start the teaching material preparation and recording the class for the upcoming session to upload in the PESU Academy portal.

The meeting started with the Dean, IQAC discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 12-12-2020. Subsequently the Dean, IQAC opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The meeting commenced with stress on safety and quality parameters that needed to be followed in the university henceforth in regular activity including, importance of wearing mask, social distancing and wearing ID card in the university campus.
  • The student mentorship (Online/ Offline) was carried out by all faculty members in the PES University.
  • The departments took initiative to conduct the program wise quality of data analysis, validation of the collected data. The validated data are documented in the department and the same need to be presented at the time of the audit.
  • The learning outcomes and the attainment reports of all the programs are submitted in the meeting for verification.
  • The teaching materials were prepared and recorded for the upcoming session. The prepared materials are uploaded in the PESU Academy portal.
  • The Faculty Development Program newly recruited Faculty was conducted from 19th October to 11th November 2020.
  • The Vice Chancellor, Registrar, COE, Dean Student Affairs, Dean IQAC, Dean Pharmacy, Dean Commerce, Director CIE, Dean Research, Chief Librarian interacted with the newly recruited faculty.
  • A Talk “Assessment and Challenges” was given by invited speaker Dr. Rajinikanth on the occasion.
  • The meeting asked to continue the mentorship meeting with students on a regular basis across the programs.
  • The attainment reports of various programs were presented by Deans. It was decided to implement outcome-based education in programs under regulatory bodies as well. IQAC will present Graduate attributes, Program Outcomes, Program Specific Outcomes and Course Outcomes and mapping with COs in the next meeting

The IQAC meeting #5 was convened on 27-11-2021 at the Boardroom from 10.30 am to 11.30 am to discuss the following agenda points:

  • PESU Digital Deliverable status of current Semester
  • Course allotment for upcoming semester
  • Syllabus and Scheme of Study for Upcoming Semester

The meeting started with the Dean, IQAC discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 26-06-2021. Subsequently the Dean, IQAC opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The Anchor faculty, Co-Anchor Faculty prepared the digital deliverable materials and uploaded them to the PESU Academy. The digital deliverable upload status was verified by the coordinators and prepared a report.
  • All the faculty members across the program updated the digital deliverable in the PESU Academy.
  • The list of courses, course allotment, the faculty workload, subject list along with Anchor and Co-Anchor was prepared and submitted.
  • The mentorship meeting with students was continued on a regular basis across the programs.
  • The Syllabus and Scheme of Study for the upcoming semester was prepared and submitted.
  • The committee asked to submit the PESU Digital Deliverable status of the current Semester in the next meeting.
  • The meeting decided to ask the department to prepare a Course allotment for the upcoming semester across the program.
  • The Syllabus and Scheme of Study for Upcoming Semester is to be prepared.
  • The mentorship meeting with the students is asked to continue on a regular basis across the programs.
  • The department visit and interaction with the students across the program is planned to understand student feedback on curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • Dean-QAC announced that PES University secured rank 83 by NIRF. The Vice Chancellor and all the members congratulated PES University in general and IQAC in particular.
  • Dean-IQAC presented in association with respective Deans the OBE model for programs such as Law, Pharmacy, Architecture Design, Commerce and Management. It was decided to implement evaluation of course attainment in the in-semester Assessment.

The IQAC meeting #6 was convened on 04-06-2022 at the Boardroom from 10.30 am to 11.30 am to discuss the following agenda points:

  • Stakeholders feedback collection
  • Attainment of Course Outcomes (COs), Program Outcomes (POs) and Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs) 

The meeting started with the Dean, IQAC discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 27-11-2021. Subsequently the Dean, IQAC opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The mentorship meeting with students was continued on a regular basis across the programs.
  • The PESU Digital Deliverable status of the last Semester was updated, and status of student usage was discussed in the meeting.
  • The department submitted the course allotment and faculty workload across the program.
  • The Syllabus and Scheme of Study was prepared, and the approved Syllabus and Scheme of Study was submitted for the preparation of a student Handbook, which circulated among the students and staff.
  • The department visit was carried out and the interaction with the faculty and students across the program was conducted to understand student feedback on curricular, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • The mentorship meeting with the students is asked to continue on a regular basis across the programs.
  • Deans of Law, Pharmacy, Architecture, Design, Management and Commerce presented the attainment of course outcomes. Dean IQAC suggested to form an interdisciplinary committee to review the OBE structure, in the absence of defined benchmark.
