Curriculum Design: The Curriculum of B.Sc. (Hons) Journalism and Mass Communication offers a holistic approach to education, combining elective courses, practical experiences, and innovative teaching methods to prepare students for success in the media world. The curriculum is regularly updated to meet industry demands, ensuring students possess current and relevant knowledge. Teaching Learning Process: The program provides a comprehensive teaching-learning process that emphasizes practicality and real-world experience. Through internships, industrial visits, certification courses, case studies, seminars, Application based research assignments and technology-driven aids, students are well-prepared to navigate the complexities of the media landscape. Assessment: The program employs a continuous evaluation system to support students’ learning journey. 50% of the marks are derived from internal assessments, while the remaining 50% come from end-semester evaluations. Students undergo two internal assessments each semester, along with other components such as research projects, case studies, and worksheets. This diverse approach ensures students’ comprehension of course material and their ability to apply concepts to real-world scenarios. The system encourages active engagement and gives students regular feedback on their progress. The department ensures comprehensive evaluation by combining internal and end-semester assessments while promoting continuous learning and growth among students. Exposure: A series of workshops, Hackathons, summits are organised by experienced professionals from prominent media organizations. These programs provide students with invaluable knowledge on the latest developments in journalism, digital media, and communication tactics.

Programme Highlights

The four-year undergraduate Hons degree prepares students to present information to the public about business, history, culture, budget issues, politics, entertainment, and sports through mass communication platforms like radio, television, and online social networks. It emphasizes critical thinking, leadership, and a global perspective, preparing graduates for diverse careers in the field.

The course provides a thorough grounding in both theory and practice, which is necessary for journalists because the profession is based on honesty, independence, and openness. Theories and models of communication, public relations, design and graphics, digital media, print media reporting and editing, radio production, data journalism, photojournalism, event management, media law and ethics are the main topics covered in this course.

  • The curriculum is well planned in a sequence of instructions consisting of Units meant for developing employability and Skills competencies of students opting for Skills essential for overall development. Practical skills are enhanced through Project based learning and simulations
  • Digital learning is emphasized, with students gaining hands-on experience using software tools like JMP, Tableau, Excel and Adobe, Coral and other photoshop tools to equip students with proficiency in digital tools and technologies relevant to the industry.
  • Innovative teaching methods, including flipped classes and real-life case studies, enhance problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Soft skills and placement readiness are conducted to foster the communication and teamwork abilities
