About PES University Grievances Redressal Committee

The PES University established a Grievances Redressal Committee (GRC) as per the notification of UGC Grievances Redressal Regulation, 2012 – dated 7th December 2018 (F.No.14-4/2012(CPP-II). This committee aimed at addressing and effectively resolving grievances of the students related to HEI

PESU GRC Composition

Objective of GRC

  • To encourage the Students to express their grievances / problems freely and frankly, without any fear of being victimized.
  • To set up a mechanism for speedy and expeditious resolution of the grievance.
  • To provide appropriate counseling to the students in the process of resolving the grievance.
  • To promote cordial relationships amongst the students.

Functions of GRC

  • To review the complaints received by the GRC.
  • To follow the principles of natural justice in considering the grievances.
  • To report with recommendations, if any, to the Vice Chancellor
  • To conduct the surveys to identify the problems of students and provide suitable solutions.

Minutes of Anti Ragging Committee(GRC) Meeting

Meeting Code: PESU/GRC/2019-20 -#1:

The GRC meeting #1 was convened on 25-02-2020 at the Office of Dean Student Affairs 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm to discuss the following agenda points:

  • Nominating the students in the Grievance Redressal Cell
  • Suggestion box in the PES University
  • Student facilities in the PES University
  • Any Student Grievance
  • Any other suggestion

The meeting started with the Chairman introducing all the members and discussing the roles and responsibilities of PESU GRC members.

The agenda points discussed in the GRC meetings

  • The decisions taken to include the students to the Grievance Redressal Cell. The student representation could be part of the committee as a nominee on a requirement basis to help us to contribute more effectively.
  • The committee informed that the Counselor is responsible for opening the Suggestion Box on a regular basis and bringing the responses to the attention of the Vice Chancellor / Registrar and the Grievance Committee.
  • The Committee decided to communicate with the University authorities about the requirement of improving the student facilities in campus
  • The Committee decided to suggest a Yoga Center, upgradation of available indoor sports facilities and gymnasium in the PES University
  • The committee suggested that the University Grants Commission (Redress of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2019 guidelines need to be circulated among the members.
  • The Committee shall independently deal with any complaint of discrimination, exclusion, limitation or preference having adverse effect on equality of treatment in education or in employment in depriving a student or a group of students or employees on the basis of caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, gender, disability or access to education of any type or at any level and those more fully provided for in the above said Regulations.
  • The committee suggested having a Departmental Student Grievance Redressal Committee (DSGRC).
  • The Student Grievance Redressal Committee needs to be effectively monitors the grievances activities in the PES University related to the equality of treatment in education or in employment in depriving a student or a group of students or employees on the basis of caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, gender, disability.

The GRC meeting #2 was convened on 31-07-2020 at the Office of Dean Student Affairs 2.30 pm to 3.30 pm to discuss the following agenda points:

  • Action Taken Report of the suggestions made in previous meeting dated: 25-02-2020
  • Additional canteen facility in the University
  • Student facilities in the campus
  • Any Student Grievance
  • Any other suggestions

The meeting started with the Chairman discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 25-02-2020. Subsequently the Chairman opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The nominated students have been taken as a member to the Grievance Redressal Cell. The student representation could be part of the committee to help us to contribute more effectively.
  • The Counselor opened the Suggestion Box near to his office and brought the responses to the attention of the Vice Chancellor / Registrar and the Grievance Committee.
  • The University improved the student facility accessibility in the campus including the extending of library usage time, and opened a new facility called “Silent Reflections-State of the Art reading space” in the PES University campus for student usage
  • The Sports & Recreational Facility in PES University has been upgraded. The new gym equipped with world class facilities and a wide range of fitness equipment from treadmills to cross trainers to excellent strength training was started.
  • The University Grants Commission (Redress of Grievances of Students) Regulations, 2019 guidelines are circulated among the members.
  • The PES University established a new canteen and also increased the sitting capacity of the available canteen facility to accommodate a greater number of students.
  • The Committee shall independently deal with any complaint of discrimination, exclusion, limitation or preference having adverse effect on equality of treatment in education or in employment in depriving a student or a group of students or employees on the basis of caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, gender, disability or access to education of any type or at any level and those more fully provided for in the above said Regulations.

The GRC meeting #3 was convened on 23-12-2020 at the Office of Dean Student Affairs 3 pm to 4 pm to discuss the following agenda points:

  • Action Taken Report of the suggestions made in previous meeting dated: 31-07-2020
  • Additional canteen facility in the University
  • Student facilities in the campus
  • Any Student Grievance
  • Any other suggestions

The meeting started with the Chairman discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 31-07-2020. Subsequently the Chairman opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The Committee decided to work independently with any complaint of discrimination, exclusion, limitation or preference having adverse effect on equality of treatment in education or in employment in depriving a student or a group of students or employees on the basis of caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, gender, disability or access to education of any type or at any level and those more fully provided for in the above said Regulations.
  • The PES University Operation Department was monitoring and managing all infrastructure facilities available in the campus. The entire campus is in CCTV surveillance and the number of security personnel have been increased to enforce preventive measures.
  • The PES University upgraded the sitting capacity of the available canteen and started a new canteen facility to accommodate more students.
  • The Committee suggested that the Department Student Grievance Redressal Committee needs to effectively monitor the grievances activities in the PES University.
  • The PES University upgraded the sports facilities for students and staff members.
  • The committee asked the Counselor to continue in bringing the student responses to the attention of the Vice Chancellor / Registrar and the Grievance Committee.
  • The Committee decided to communicate with the University authorities about the requirement of improving the Bus facility to a different location
  • The Committee decided to communicate with the Higher authorities regarding the upgradation of notice/display board facility available in the campus by providing more Smart TV Sets

Meeting Code: PESU/GRC/2020-21 -#2:

The GRC meeting #4 was convened on 23-07-2021 at the Office of Dean Student Affairs 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm to discuss the following agenda points:

  • Action Taken Report of the suggestions made in previous meeting dated: 23-12-2020
  • Any Student Grievance
  • Any other suggestions

The meeting started with the Chairman discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 23-12-2020. Subsequently the Chairman opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The sports facility in the PES University was upgraded with a new indoor basketball court. A new Yoga Center was established in the PES University campus for the students, faculty and staff.
  • PES university installed more Smart TV Sets which enable students to view / use as ICT enabled display, Digital Notice Board, Events – Academic, Curricular, CoCurricular to be conducted and highlights of the events conducted, University Circulars in each block for effective communication.
  • The Student Counselor continued in bringing the student responses to the attention of the Vice Chancellor / Registrar and the Grievance Committee.
  • The bus facility for commuting the students to nearby Metro station was initiated for the students and staff of PES University. The number of bus routes has increased based on the student
  • Based on the input from the students, the committee decided to communicate with the University about upgrading the computer facility in the computer lab and assessment center.
  • The committee suggested communicating to the university regarding the two wheeler and four wheeler parking facility for the students and staff.
  • The committee recommended continuing the classroom and lab sanitization. The students of the PES University asked to continue wearing the mask.

Meeting Code: PESU/GRC/2021-22 -#1:

The GRC meeting #5 was convened on 09-12-2021 at the Office of Dean Student Affairs 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm to discuss the following agenda points:

  • Action Taken Report of the suggestions made in previous meeting dated: 23-07-2021
  • Assessment center/lab facility
  • Status of study materials in the PESU Academy
  • Any other suggestions

The meeting started with the Chairman discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 23-07-2021. Subsequently the Chairman opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The Student Counselor continued in bringing the student responses to the attention of the Vice Chancellor / Registrar and the Grievance Committee.
  • The PES University started a new assessment center in the campus and the available computer lab was upgraded.
  • The two wheeler and four wheeler parking facility for the students and staff was upgraded in the University.
  • The committee members recommended uploading the study materials in the PESU Academy for all the courses across the program.
  • The Chairman and the committee members decided to visit the hostel and check the quality of food.
  • The committee decided to suggest to the IT department to improve the WiFi connectivity in the hostel.
  • The students requested PES University to create new facility for conducting specific Hackathons

Meeting Code: PESU/GRC/2021-22 -#2:

The GRC meeting #6 was convened on 26-05-2022 at the Office of Dean Student Affairs 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm to discuss the following agenda points:

  • Action Taken Report of the suggestions made in previous meeting dated: 09-12-2021
  • Student Hostel visit by the Committee members
  • Any Student Grievance
  • Any other suggestions

The meeting started with the Chairman discussing the action taken as per the suggestions given by the committee members on 09-12-2021. Subsequently the Chairman opened the discussion on the agenda points.

  • The Student Counselor continued in bringing the student responses to the attention of the Vice Chancellor / Registrar and the Grievance Committee.
  • The Chairman and the committee members visited the hostel and observed that good hygiene practices are maintained in the hostel. The committee suggested the supervisor of the hostel canteen to maintain a healthy and nutritious food for the students.
  • The IT infrastructure including the WiFi facility in the campus was upgraded.
  • A new facility called PES 52 was created at PES University enabling the students to organize and participate in Hackathons
  • The chairman and the committee members decided to prepare a schedule and visit the department to interact with the students and staff members.
  • The committee decided to recommend upgrading the library facilities of PES University to accommodate a larger number of students and staff.
  • The Chairman suggested all members to propose a plan for a workshop on creating awareness to the staff and students of PES University regarding the limitation or preference having adverse effect on equality of treatment in education or in employment in depriving a student or a group of students or employees on the basis of caste, creed, religion, language, ethnicity, gender, disability.
